Hi Laurel

My experience on SCD has been that I had periods of detoxing and healing about every 4 to 6 weeks during the first year on SCD. But I also was dealing with a major candida overgrowth too, so my gut ecology was seriously unbalanced, which explains why I had these phases so frequently. During these phases I experienced all of what you are describing. My digestion settled down by the end of the 2nd year on SCD, all my yeast-related symptoms disappeared, and I knew my gut ecology was back in balance. I have functional upper GI disorders, so I am happy just to have reached the "management of symptoms" stage, not a "cure."

However, I still have some of these symptoms, like fatigue and dizziness/vertigo, spaciness because I have been diagnosed with a number of neurological conditions, and am deficient in some minerals. So I have some of these symptoms daily, but not nearly as severe or as debilitating once I started boosting my electrolytes, began giving myself B12 shots monthly, and learned how to better manage my energy levels.

My experience has been that die-off and detoxing symptoms generally only last two or three days. When a certain symptom persists for longer, than I begin to look at my foods and supplements, and then if nothing has changed after testing (and it's several weeks later with no improvement), I see one of my doctors and ask questions. I now see my neurologist more often than my PCP or gastroenterologist because new things keep manifesting themselves.

So, my suggestion is to just monitor how you're feeling, try going back to easier-to-digest foods for a few days, rest and stay hydrated. Check your foods and supplements, make sure there are no hidden illegals. If your symptoms persist, then check with your doctor.
