hey everyone..

my husband's 13 month old niece has terrible food allergies (turned

blue/anaphylaxis drinking cows milk, eggs)

she has a chronic ear infection that wont go away. she keeps getting

antibiotics. this last round she was on " augmentin " - has helped the

pus in her ear go away but now she has watery green BM's. this

antibiotic route is all too familiar for me personally since i had

severe chronic ear infections with massive doses of antibiotics and

look at me today- crohn's/colitis.

they are giving her a probiotic with like 5 different strands of

bacteria and it includes lactose, corn starch, corn syrup, sucrose,

tapioca starch and bunch of other things.

now i don't know -anything- about raising children as i don't have any

myself and i wouldn't even want to being to be dogmatic about scd with

anyone. it's a hard diet, difficult process, complete 360 lifestyle

change- i dont think it should be taken lightly. but i was wondering

maybe there is a better probiotic she can take? what would you give a

13 month old in this situation? plus she cannot tolerate milk so like

yogurt is out of the question.

the parents wont give her any known allergens (i totally understand)

fruits, nuts and such. and when she is 3 yrs they will send her to

the hospital overnight to administer dairy and see if she can tolerate it.

she is in israel and i purchased the BTVC book for my mother in law in

hebrew. cause she is totally on board supportive of me. i am

supposed to get back to her about the probiotic.

the parents carry rice milk in a cooler everywhere they go and

oatmeal. this is just breaking my heart.

anyway- any pointers would be awesome!
