Hi carolyn I take Amitrip about 40 to 50mgs at night an hour before bed and I take Rivitrol and aniti epileptic drug the muscle relaxants work well, when I first started the took about an hour to work and I was ready for bed, just nice and relaxed, but now they take a bit longer, but I and now having a restfull sleep, and all my bad dreams have gone. I also take Melatonin, they have helped get my sleep patterns back boy were they bad. I wake feeling really good not groggy at all. The amitrip can be taken up to 150mg and at the dosage it is usually used a an antidepressant.
