Guest guest
My name is Hope Fine. I am the Clinical Director of the Hyperbaric Center in Deerfield Beach. For the past 7 years we have treated more then 100 autistic children. My staff's dedication to patient care is of utmost importance. We make sure vital signs are checked and ears are examined before and after all treatments. I get very upset when a parent questions the integrity of one of my staff….especially when this parent invited the technician into her home because she felt so comfortable when her boys were with this woman. Robin, our technician, is one of the most compassionate and nurturing woman anyone would ever have the good luck to meet. She treats these children as her own and would never intentionally harm anyone. Unfortunately [the mom in question] feels the need to vent her anger and blame my technician for something that never happened when in fact she is angry at me. As most health care facilities, we have a cancellation policy. This policy is explained to and signed by the parent prior to treating their child. It states that if a patient cancels within 24 hours of their scheduled treatment time, more then 3 times, we have the option of billing them for the treatment. In fact, [the mom in question] cancelled at the last minute 8 times. Because she schedules both boys, each having their own chamber that would be equal to 16 cancellations without a 24 hour notice. As a matter of fact, on one of those occasions, when we called the [family] to inquire why they didn't show up for their appointment, they were in Disney. It is also unfortunate when someone else mentioned that we only treat these children " for the money " . Perhaps that person is unaware that the [family] received a discount for the boys. This center has also started a " not for profit " fund for low income families so they might have the opportunity to get HBOT as well as sound therapy and ABA at no cost to them. We are also on the phone daily acquiring authorizations and appealing to insurance companies for coverage so that the parents have no out of pocket expense. Presently we are working with an attorney on a class action suit requiring insurance to pay for " investigational " therapy and we are forming a lobbying group to appeal to the heads of state in Tallahassee. Anyone that knows us knows how far from the truth the statement " they're in it for the money " really is. Our goal at this facility is to help as many children as we can despite their finances. I encourage anyone with any questions to visit our web site or call me directly at . Thank you.
