Family Care Council Communication: For your information and sharing. The Urban League of Broward County in conjunction with Broward County Family Success Administration Division advises that there are potential openings for up to 370 participants in their IDA program. This program provides a 2:1 savings match to low-to-moderate income working individuals and families in Broward County to assist them in obtaining assets and gradually accumulating wealth. The goal is to enable participants to become economically self-sufficient. The saved and matched money may be used to purchase a first home, start a small business or pursue post secondary education. The participant would essentially make deposits into the IDA account up to $2000 and the 2:1 match would provide them with a total amount of $6000 available for their savings goal. The attachments provide additional information specific to Broward County and the AFI (Assets for Independence) website details the overall program - http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ocs/afi/ I understand there is flexibility in some of the specific requirements and that individuals receiving federal and/or state benefits and who have not yet begun to work may also be eligible. For more information, please contact the Urban League of Broward County at . Needless to say if I can be of any assistance please don't hesitate to contact me.
