Guest guest
Hi, everyone - just a bit to share on this topic. We had an absolutely wonderful teacher when our child was first diagnosed with ASD. If you're out there, Amy Cohen from Meadowbrook School, God bless you a million times over for what you did for us. What a gem this teacher was for us. She really loved our child and without her guidance and strength in those formative days, I don't know how we would've made it. She got our daughter figured out and educated us in all things ABA that we're still using today for our daughter. Let's not also forget the paraprofessonials who also make a difference!!! So in all fairness to teachers, we should really take the time to recognize the ones who stand out. Too often they get lost in the noise. On another topic - regarding the Top 10 Mistakes re the IEP - well, what a surprise. We are the type of parents who are microscopically involved in all of our child's programs and sometimes this type of parenting is not welcomed. It's not that we think we know it all, we just want to know it all - get the difference in meaning? We're not always welcomed with our approach as we get the impression we're the "pain in the butt" couple. We question everything and hold everyone accountable so we did all the Top 10 correctly and our child's IEP still was not up to snuff.
