HELP!! DS (2yr 9mth)decided 2 weeks ago that he wanted to wear

pants. So far, only occasional success in the potty (when he happens

to be on it at the time!). He only seems to tell me when he has

already either started or even finished his wee/poo. Sometimes he's

saying he wants to go back into nappies. Have tried asking him v.

regularly but I can ask him, get a " no " and then 30 seconds later wet

trousers again. Is it worth perservering or is he really not ready

yet and it'd be better to start all over again at a later date??

I got stressed out too, only 2 months ago, and my advice would be that it is

not worth it.

DS1 was doing exactly as you describe. I finally lost it completely with

him (which may be where you are heading?!) and after I'd dragged him to the

toilet by his arm and left him sitting there in shock whilst I went to try

and calm down, I realised I had to give it up for a while.

We tried again a few weeks later and he cottoned on almost immediately! So

all those wet trousers won't be for nothing...something will have sunk

in....but for your sanity, I'd wait a few days/weeks until you feel calmer!

My DS was like this. Started to manage the wees after a while, but the

poos were always in his pants. We both got too stressed and he went back

full time into nappies. Then 10 days later he begged for his pants back

and we hardly had another accident. The whole process (including the 10

days in nappies) was about 6 weeks and he was done just in time for 3rd

birthday.
