Jodi,

I'm not a doctor or nutritionist, though I have studied nutrition for

some years on my own behalf.

One of the things I am sure you are aware of is that people with gut

issues often do not absorb nutrients from their food as well as they

should.

Some of the moms on Pecan Bread use injectable B-12 because their kids'

guts can't absorb or manufacture their own.

SCD, of course, is designed to improve digestion, allow absorption of

nutrients, and healing.

In the meantime, nutrients which go directly into the bloodstream can be

utilized directly to promote healing.

Dr. Hoffman did write the intro to BTVC, although he sometimes follows a

more relaxed protocol, per what I have heard.

Personally, I don't see anything in the list that should be an issue. But

I'm not you. <smile> If you decide to go ahead, please let us know

how it goes!

hey marilyn,

thanks for the reply..

it's just a tough decision for me since i am so sensitive and i don't

want anything to set me back. on one hand i need the nutrients now on

the other i understand as i heal i will absorb more of those

nutrients. patience is a virtue huh?

from my experience at hoffman institute they aren't as strict and

fanatical about SCD. i mean- don't get me wrong they preach it but

they aren't sticklers.. allowances here and there. i feel i have no

choice but to be fanatical! i don't get results otherwise. i tried.

i understand that some people are blessed that they feel a lot better

with a modified gluten free diet. not me though.

i was prescribed a whole bunch of supplements by dr kroner (the other

dr at hoffman institute) i have a very bad history with supplements

and i was worried. i purchased the probiotic they sell there- klaire

labs which says on the bottle that it's scd compliant. i told the dr

that i am on lyosan and she told me to switch. like stop a few days

and start the klaire one. stupidly, i listened. that was a disaster.

i tried 2 other supplements- olive leaf extract for the candida that

-directly- caused me to be bed-ridden for a week. the only thing that

helped was these peppermint pills that really do wonders with the pain

attacks although it made my nausea really really bad in the morning.

the other thing i found interesting was that at hoffman institute they

are really trying to get patients with ibd stuff to avoid

microparticles. i never heard of this before.

thats it for now..

burger patty ready and i am so hungry!!
