Guest guest
Last week, I had a couple of really busy evenings and forgot to take my sulfasalazine. I have weaned myself from 6 pills a day when I started SCD last July to a schedule of one pill with dinner one day, and 2 pills the next day (alternating 1 pill, 2 pills). Last Monday and Tuesday, I completely forgot to take them at all. By Wednesday, I was freaking out, because in the past, if I forgot even one evening dose, my stools would get loose within one or two days. By Friday, I was wondering where the loose stools were. They never showed up! I did go back to my 1 pill - 2 pill alternating schedule, but am getting ready to remove one of them, so I'm only on 1 pill a day. I feel like I am getting so close to being med-free. On top of that, last week I was eating quite a bit of raw nuts and raw veggies (salads and just plain carrot sticks and celery sticks). In the past, that would send my system into a few days of looseness - but not this time! IT'S WORKING! :-) Kathy UC since 12/05 SCD since 7/07 sulfasalazine - on the way to med-free

Grammy reminded me to caution everyone that changing or reducing your meds should only be done under the supervision of your doctor. I spoke with my doctor about my plan for reducing my meds at my last office visit, and he was in agreement with my plan. Kathy
