Welcome to the list.

Oh, dear. I'm also a writer... and I needed a Canadian name for a

character, so I picked a place name off my Canadian atlas. Guess

what the character's surname is. Gatineau.

I fer SHURE never expected to meet anyone from there!

I completely agree. Our house is 100% SCD even though my husband is the only one with digestive issues (CD). We don't have kids either but my younger sisters live with us. I cook SCD and that is what we all eat. I follow the diet outside of the house as well, my sisters don't but the only food in the house is SCD.

I think it makes it easier all around. I don't want to have to prepare two different types of food and he knows that when he opens the fridge, he can have anything that is in there. I also think it makes it easier for him not to have the temptation in the house or to have to watch everyone else eat things he can't have.

Best wishes,

Re: newbie introduction

,I have been on the SCD diet for more than two years now, very successfully. I don't have children but I do cook totally SCD and my husband eats what I eat. I would encourage you to have a family meeting and enlist your family's support for you in this diet. Especially after the beginner phase is complete, if you cook SCD for the whole family, I think you'll be much more successful. My husband and I have come to love all the foods that substitute for the starches we now do not eat. The roasted carrots recipe from Kendall's book is tremendous. Spaghetti squash, cauliflower, butternut squash - these are some of our favorite foods now. Even when we have family get togethers, they all eat what I cook, all SCD. Of course, my husband loves his Tostitos and salsa, but when he gets those out, I reach for pecans or a piece of cheese and an apple or a biscotti ordered from Jodi Bager's JKGourmet

website. It's a long road when you're this sick, but be encouraged that the SCD way can help you become very healthy again. From my own experience, I am convinced of it!Ginger CaroCrohn's 2.8 yearsSCD 2.8 years
