Guest guest
, Your comment about zinc deficiency raises a red flag for me. I recall Blair's mom previously telling me that one of the doctors stated Blair was low in zinc. I don't think she was ever started on it though. Guest guest
, About the vitamins-we just switched to a " complete " multivitamin (like Flintstones Complete) from Poly Vi Flor because the nutritionist wanted the zinc in it for her. We then had to get fluoride drops separately. We're seeing the new GI on Thurs and right now, I'm afraid its a inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. The symptoms, including anemia and high white cells, fit. I'm still hoping its something else non-chronic though. Oh and get this, if it is, some of the drugs used to treat it cause growth retardation. We'll obviously be finding alternative methods! The poor kid just can't get a break. Will let you know... I had the pleasure of going through some old emails -- the ones when you couldn't get yourself to bed and the ones on herbs and the color of food (unfortunately I was eating lunch while reading about Gentian and its " cleansing " benefits). I had to laugh at the color comment but in truth I have heard this about orange as well. Apparently restaurants (especially fast food) are quite atuned to the effects of color. Fast food restaurants pick colors that stimulate appetite while proving an overstimulating environment so people will not stay and relax. Fancier the restaurant; the more relaxing the color sceme. Fast foods tend to be orange and primary colors, family restarants use green and navy, while fancy restaurants...well, frankly with two kids...I can't remember. > >I too have pursued alternative med.s I live near DC and have the benefit of an outstanding Chinese Dr. He has performed accupreasure on Bay to stimulate appetite (I feel it worked some initially). I talked with him about herbs and he said there were some excellent herbal remedies to stimulate appetite, absorption and digestions; however, I would have to wait til Bay was several years of age. Anyway, a sincere thanks for the herbal info. > >Missy, >do you know the two places your doctor felt were the best for leg lengthening. I have heard Hopkin's. > >Everyone, >Our visit with Dr. H is this Friday. If anyone has questions they would like raised please let me know. Question, has anyone been advised of other vitamins to give our kids than just the typical kid multies. I've heard zinc deficiency can reduce appetite and I was wondering with the bone ages if calcium or other vitamins are needed. Any thoughts. Hopefully, I'll remember to ask Dr. H. > >Ken, >I would love Dr. Stanhopes phone and email address! > >Stacie, >I loved your points on the g-tube, that we have to put our fears aside for the benefit of our young ones. > > mum to Bay 9 mos and crawling!
