Guest guest
Ok, we are still sitting here pretty much non verbal with the occassional slurr of a sentence. But- yesterday I put the carnosine back in Austin's food. I took it out after relizing there was a possible link to adding it and lost speech again. One thing I must note is that when I took it away, 3 days later he began sleeping more again. Not that he wasn't sleeping well with it, but there was a noticeable decrease. Ok, so here is the interesting thing... I gave it to him yesterday and shortly afterwards (30mins to an hour) he was playing with his little linguist once again, and... he grabbed the lion and said " n li n " . The n was pronounced as n sound and the li was with the long i sound. Originally lion was a first after starting fat supplements. But when he first said it, it was *ion*. After lion yesterday he picked up the cow and I asked him if he could say cow. He said " how " . I'm still battling with appointments. I still am super impressed with what the supplements have done for him. I'd love to hear more from others about carnosine and what they have noticed. I'm also debating proEPA vs proDHA. My reason stem from his blindness and the hopeful thoughts I have regarding rods/cones and the affects DHA has in this area. I've FINALLY got the name of an alternative med dr, who was a regular dr prior to switching. The nutritionist and I are working on a date to meet. (not as hopeful since she said she doesn't need to see him) At any rate it is a start. Developmental pediatrician's office is still looking over his paper work. I think the hardest thing about that paper work is feeling like I won't be believed about his original talking. Has anyone faced that? He was talking rather early and I've been through this scenario with my oldest son. (no apraxia prob, talks excessively since birth) I'm also awaiting the number via a friend for a music speech therapist. BTW- can anyone refer any numbers to me for north Texas??? If you see your various dr's and specialist that you are very fond of please ask for a reference here. I've been fighting this for months now. And, what defines verbal apraxia as severe? Is it a monotone no- verbalizing at all? I'm just trying to get a feel for how serious our lack of speech is. My son is almost 2 1/2 now and I'm getting comments back from relatives on the all too familiar *a lot of 2 yr olds don't talk* level. argh. Austin makes lots of different sounds, hums entire songs in perfect tune and occassionally says something often slurring sentences such as *here i am*. At one point prior to his complete loss of words, he would substitute a variety of words in the song twinkle twinkle and sing it with those words. EX- mama, dada and da e (for daddy). Thanks and sorry for posting so much in one post but i'm overwhelmed lately with much more than just Austin and posting and reading time is greatly limited.
