Guest guest
Apparently, because they turn them into peanut butter (and so, too, with other nuts) right after roasting, it is uncommon to spray some kind of starch preservative on roasted nuts used to make butters. That said, they sell Yum at Digestive Wellness, (available at Fairway, Whole Foods) and also put it in their baked goods, so I assume that is fine and I've also been using Trader Joe's. Guest guest
Roasted peanuts used in peanut butter should be OK. Look for a peanut butter with only peanuts (roasted or not) and salt. You can find some if you look hard. I started making my own peanut butter a year ago, as I began noticing I was reacting to the apparently legal kind in my local stores -- Smuckers "original" peanut butter, The label said just roasted peanuts and salt. After some experimenting making my own peanut butter I confirmed that I tolerated it better. I buy peanuts roasted in the shell so I don't have to do that step. Doesn't take too long to make it; I don't eat a lot of peanut butter so a batch lasts me a week or two. Kim M. Guest guest
On Pecanbread, ( the SCD site Autism) www.pecanbread.comPeople are being advised that since peanuts are a legume, peanut butter should be treated as an advanced food and may be sufficiently problematic for some children, even those without allergies and that it should be avoided and other nut butters used instead.Roasted peanuts used in peanut butter should be OK. Look for a peanut butter with only peanuts (roasted or not) and salt. You can find some if you look hard. Guest guest
What about cashew butter? I think the almond butter made me sick because it has the " skins " (or I think those specks are the skins) I don't know, I could be wrong. > > > Roasted peanuts used in peanut butter should be OK. Guest guest
You could be right. Guest guest
Put skinless peanuts in a food processor and whirl away. You may have to add a little oil. I prefer raw peanuts to roasted. > How do you make your own peanut butter? > > Carol F. Guest guest
Carol, Nobody should be eating raw peanuts. Katy Breaking The Vicious Cycle: Is peanut butter from raw peanuts OK? Is peanut butter from roasted nuts OK?***** I would never use anything made with raw peanuts; there is a great fear of aflaxtoxin. Companies making peanut butter are carefully monitored for aflatoxin contamination so most pure bought peanut butters (without additives) should be OK. Never use raw peanuts to make peanut butter!!! Peanuts alone are not to be tried until after six months _____________________________________________________________Let the sun shine in! Click now for a beautiful new sunroom!
