Guest guest
, AMOS is the Association for Morbid Obesity Support. the address is \ www.obesityhelp.com. This is a great place, full of info, and good caring people, but its pretty much ann RNY site. Some of us post there, but most of the post ops are post RNY and really don't want to hear about DS. Its the preops I worry about. WHat if they don't even KNOW about this other (better - IMHO) alternative. W
Guest guest
Don't keep your DS opinions to yourself, ! It was because of people like you I am now going to have the DS instead of RNY. Someone had to come and get me! Robin F
Guest guest
Hi ... it's so very, very true. Many, many people talk about having " the " surgery, not knowing there there is more than one type. I get many thanks from people at AMOS for explaining that there are other alternatives to research. I feel it's very important we do give a voice over there, just for that reason. To tell you the truth, I was the same way. A couple years ago I saw a doctor I respected from Duke University on a TV show, explaining the VBG in detail. He never mentioned that there were other types of weight loss surgeries. I took away from that program that the VBG was WLS and was totally turned off by it. I never gave it a second thought until I chose to listen to my Angel, Barbara Metcalf, who explained a completely different alternative, the DS. We need to keep talking, gently talking, so people will hear there are other options available. heidi Home Page: http://www.mywls.com
Guest guest
Dear Heidi, When I first started to research weight loss surgery, I did a search on Alta Vista using the words, " weight loss surgery " and came up with a list which included your website. I picked yours on the basis of the little one-line summary that was included with the name of the site. So, your web site was the first one I read about weight loss surgery. My husband did his own web search and found a local San Dr.'s site about the RNY procedure, and that site was the first one that he read on the subject. I'm so glad that your site was the very first one that I read! So, Joe and I knew from the very beginning that there were TWO effective and safe weight loss surgical options that we needed to investigate. I'm so glad that you continue to monitor the AMOS site and answer questions about the DS for the newcomers who have been given mis-information about the DS or no information at all. You have a very informative site with a really genuine personal touch that many folks can really relate to. I have been giving all my Internet friends just two websites to read about the weight loss surgery that I plan to have: the DS website, http://www.duodenalswitch.com/ and your web site. Several of my friends have praised your website. They like the personal touch and really enjoyed reading your journal about your own experience with the surgery. I just wanted to thank you for putting that site on the web. It played a major part in Joe's and my finding out about the DS surgery and deciding that it is the one for us. Joy (Joe's Other Half!)
