Guest guest
I shop at the whole foods in Cupertino and they sell the Friendship Farmer's cheese which is supposed to be the equivalent to DCCC. I know Mollie Stones in Greenbrae also sells Friendships farmers cheese. I think there is a specialty cheese store called the Cheeseboard or something similar in Berkeley and you could try them if you can't find the farmer's cheese at Whole Foods or Mollie Stones. You should have no problem finding it, Hannah UC 20 years SCD 6 months Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search. Guest guest
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BTVC-SCD/files/Getting%20Started%20with%20SCD/ or http://tinyurl.com/2wl6nr if Yahoo breaks the larger URL up, directs you to a folder which includes a PDF file of the label of the Friendship Dairies Farmer Cheese, which is DCCC. You can print it out and show it to the cheese man at your local Whole Foods. (Saves him having to look at those glittering, pasta-crazed eyes, you know.) I was going to suggest that if Whole Foods proved uncooperative, you could try Fresh Market, but they are a southeast and midwest chain. My local Whole Foods has proved... uhm, difficult, at best on the subject, but the Fresh Market (a mere 50 miles away) will order whole cases of it for me if I know I'm going to be in their area on the weekend. I call them on Monday, order the case (of 12 pounds), and pick it up on Saturday. It freezes really well. BTW, do remember that SCD is not necessarily a LOW carbohydrate diet, but a SPECIFIC carbohydrate diet. As you add foods, you can have plenty of carbohydrates in the form of vegetables, fruits, and homemade yogurt. Some of us do find it easier to reduce the total carbs to a balance which works for our system -- but we're not doing Atkins! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
