Health-Care Reform Will Remain a Top Priority of the 111th Congress

With a rising uninsured population, increased costs across the board and

lingering concerns regarding the quality and affordability of the Medicare and

Medicaid entitlement programs, Congressional leaders have a tall task ahead to

enact meaningful health-care reform. The desire exists for broad changes to the

health-care delivery system; however, the economic and federal budget situation

Social Security Announces 5.8 Percent Benefit Increase for 2009

Monthly Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for more

than 55 million Americans will increase 5.8 percent in 2009, the Social Security

Administration recently announced. The 5.8 percent increase is the largest since

Study Links Precipitation and Autism

A new study has found that children living in counties with higher levels of

annual precipitation appear more likely to have higher prevalence rates of

autism. The results raise the possibility that an environmental trigger for

autism may be associated with precipitation and may affect genetically
