Hi Everyone,

A while back I posted the following question:

> If any of you have been dxd with spasticity or if you have a lot of muscle

spasms with your chiari experience---please let me know. If you take

medication for it ---how has that gone for you?

I received 6 replies from people treated for spasticity and several requests for

the info to be posted to the group. I will keep a running tab on this so please

keep sending me info. If you will also tell me about your preop symptoms---I

think that would be interesting and helpful. I will periodically summarize the

data without names like below.

In a nutshell

3 people taking baclofen which helps but sounded like all still had some spasms

1 person with flexeril which works well with almost no side effects

1 person took numerous muscle relaxers with no help, zanaflex caused dizziness

1 person with severe spasicity that looks like cerebral palsy at times-sometimes

it has been called dystonic posturing

( gets so spastic the joint and muscles lock into a position) this

person has benefited from Klonopin a seizure medication & Eldeperyl (a

older parkinson's medication) (not at the same time), but has not had relief

from baclofen, flexeril, or zanaflex.
