my mom was on the diet to relieve what i thought to be ibs

constipation. for many years she has been taking laxatives which have

made her colon totally dependent. she was doing so well on the diet

and then she introduced GF bread. she was ok but after 2 weeks eating

the GF bread she got bad again. she just did her first colonoscopy-

it showed that she was generally fine but that she has a small area of

diverticulosis. the GI said it was no big deal and that it was

nothing. i don't agree at all since i have learned a small booboo for

one person can still be life altering in the sense of discomfort.

she has been drinking a ground flax seed preperation and elaine's

prune nectar recipe. she has stopped all illegal supplements like 3

months ago, no laxatives but she will do an occasional coffee or lemon

juice enema she will also get a colonic if she gets too backed up.

now she wants to go very strict scd and i told her that flaxseed is

illegal and that really scared her as she fears she won't move her

bowel without it! does anyone know why it's illegal? anyway, is

there a different prep she can take besides the prune nectar to

relieve her constipation in these difficult first few weeks? and what

do you guys feel about juicing? with constipation does she need to be

as careful with diluting?

any suggestions would be totally appreciated!
