Re: update on first three days

Louise,

A good start to the first three days. however, Rice is not legal. In

fact Elaine's daughter Judy tried to add this food back first and

after I think thirteen years on SCD she got bleeding from it right

away. Even if it is not a grain (which it is..) it is a

starch.....not allowed on SCD. This is the first advice I would

recommend.......drop the rice.

Here are a few hints I had to learn about MCS and SCD. I need to

rotate because often the foods I am replacing illegals with are worse

for me than the illegals themselves as far as sensitivity alone. Some

I can tell......many I was masked to in different ways.

I do have serum and access to food testing...........black pepper was

surprisingly bad for me. So look at the oils and little things that

you may be taking in so small amounts that you can not detect the

food reaction. Honestly I am just not using these anymore. I bake my

meat plain in water in a glass pan.

SCD does not have to be this plain and boring......but for me it has

to for now because I am sensitive to all the spices and many of the

oils.

Also, I had to change to cast iron pans. I was so sensitive to

stainless steel that it was getting into my food from my cookware and

contaminating even legal food that I did not react to.

I just recently lost eggs (through food testing) and tried to eat it

yesterday and had a return of " d " . So if you suspect a food you can

remove for four days and then readd to sometimes see more syptoms

from it.

I understand about trying to tell detox from a reaction. I was tring

to do that with a brand of vit c I am trying just yesterday.

Good luck. Please email me offlist or through MSC canada with any

other questions regarding MCS and SCD. I see Dr. Rea in Dallas,TX so

I speak mostly from his brand of advice.

Many here get a bit nervous about talk of MCS since it is slightly

off topic for SCD and most do not have this problem or do not know

they have it.

However, there are at least three or four others who do. On this list

we mostly talk only baout the SCD part of it.

Have a great day. Michele

Louise,

I forgot to mention that some common recommendations for detox

symtpoms are epsom salt baths and activated charcoal. I do not know

if you tolerate these but this is often recommended to those going

through the initial detox and the every three month flares that most

experience.........

I also wanted to mention that for whatever reason I never did well

with the beginning diet of chicken soup.........I started with a stir

fry of veggies and beef in olive oil in my first week of the diet and

did marvelously well with this probably because I am mostly

nonreactive to these things.

This is horrible advice......but I try to eat things that I am NOT

drawn to. If I love it I am usually sensitive to it. It is ironic and

not helpful, I know. But when I eat something that is plain and

boring to me I am usually ok with it and do not react. It contrasts

with the psychology of trying to to SCD.......and it may not be good

advice for the first few days.

Somewhere there are stages that may be very helpful to you. These are

just a guideline of foods that most introduce well earlier or later.

I do not have it boookmarked.

Louise,

Rice is considered a grain on SCD. It's forbidden. Elaine's daughter

tried to add rice back in after YEARS on SCD, and got immediate bleeding

and, I believe, other symptoms. She stopped it, and the symptoms stopped.

She tried it again, after some months, and the symptoms

returned.

Remember, we're eliminating all starches, aka polysaccharides, and all

sugars which are not monosaccharides.
