Can you stomach garlic? That's a very strong and effective anti-fungal. Stronger raw but also viable as an anti-fungal cooked. http://www.garlic-central.com/garlic-health-summary.html > > my husband doesnt think i should try any antifungals at all. he > thinks if i do it should be in like 1 years time. > > i am unsure how i am supposed to combat these stubborn candida bugs as > if i introduce things it seems to set those buggers off. > > since i am not feeling well (thank god the spasms and narrowing aren't > present, so i know these horrible episodes are getting better) > > my husband (who is sick with a terrible head cold) barely went out and > was only able to buy me turkey patties. bless his heart for > schlepping out in that state! when i go back to intro i always eat > beef burger patties. i am quite scared that if i eat another one > today it might make me sick since i am not used to it? is this me > just being paranoid again? > > he also purchased buffalo patties (which i have not eaten since being > on diet) i have had turkey though but never in patty. > > i have no food at home otherwise. > > so i guess my question is generally are turkey patties ok? or is it > harder to digest than beef patties? Guest guest
Jodi,Sorry to hear you arent feeling well. I am curious as to what symptoms you are having? Bleeding?? And were you doing well up until this point? Do you think it was something else in conjunction with the oil of oregano that set you off?I've been on the diet 2 months and am curious to other people's experiences, I think I am experiencing die off or something right now, I'm having a lot of bleeding and not feeling that well either all of a sudden.Addiejodah235 wrote: just reached the 6 month line on scd. i feel horrible! i am unsure if it is because i tried the oil of oregano which i tried again because of my ear infection. the first time (1 drop in a glass of water went over well) the 2nd time i am unsure if this is the culprit or if i am experiencing a 6 month flare. my husband doesnt think i should try any antifungals at all. he thinks if i do it should be in like 1 years time. i am unsure how i am supposed to combat these stubborn candida bugs as if i introduce things it seems to set those buggers off. since i am not feeling well (thank god the spasms and narrowing aren't present, so i know these horrible episodes are getting better) my husband (who is sick with a terrible head cold) barely went out and was only able to buy me turkey patties. bless his heart for schlepping out in that state! when i go back to intro i always eat beef burger patties. i am quite scared that if i eat another one today it might make me sick since i am not used to it? is this me just being paranoid again? he also purchased buffalo patties (which i have not eaten since being on diet) i have had turkey though but never in patty. i have no food at home otherwise. so i guess my question is generally are turkey patties ok? or is it harder to digest than beef patties? jodi scd 6 months crohn's/colitis
Guest guest
Hey Addie, I have been doing a heck of a lot better since being on the diet- with that said it has been like a roller coaster ride for me. So many ups and downs and many many things have set me off to the point of really having horrible spasms, intestinal narrowing so all I do is vomit and whimper in pain. Thankfully these episodes have been getting less and less frequent and the intensity of pain is reducing as well. Sometimes I get so fearful I think I have to go to the hospital but as I go through this and pull through to the other side it keeps me strong that I am on the right path!! also the support I get here, I cannot express how this helps me as it is really difficult to understand just how important this diet is for us and why we have to be so fanatical. I never really experienced " too much " bleeding to begin with although I was always extremely anemic (last week i got blood results that were the best results I had in like 12 years!! Hemoglobin was actually over 10!!!) Anyway, the small amount of bleeding I experienced stopped after 2 months into the diet. I haven't had the problem since. What I find I go through is this; I do something wrong (whether eat something, try a supplement or I don't know what) and then I start feeling aching in my intestines. Followed by feeling extreme soreness in my whole GI Tract also feeling incredibly weak and tired. Then I feel bloated and I pray to go to the bathroom although many times I can't just to find an hour later I'm in the toilet and it's all watery D. I usually feel better briefly after the BM and then a little while later the pain shows it's ugly face and just knocks me out! I feel like an aching like I need to " catch " my intestines from falling. I cannot eat and usually cannot drink for about 15 hours-24 hours (in the beginning this would last 3 days of not being able to eat/drink) If I do eat all I do is vomit even if I drink water it all comes up. If I am strong enough not to eat/drink at all because sometimes I am like " maybe it is ok now? " since I do not know exactly when is ok to start drinking/eating- then I usually pull through it quicker. This last time I was able to move around the house, walk and I didn't vomit at all. Comparing to just whimpering and not being able to move parked on the couch for days. The intestinal soreness last for a while. I have it now. Every time I move I feel like my intestines are bruised no matter what I do. I find the epsom salt bath help with this. Although I cannot take a bath in these episodes or when I am not drinking as I get dehydrated and that has caused me to go to the ER many times. So it is really after the episode I take baths. Thats what I can think of in a nut-shell (how scary is that?) I thank Dr Haas and Elaine every single day for this gift of her life's work. Bless her. Guest guest
Hi Tina, Thanks for your reply. It means a lot! I am feeling much much better today and I was able to eat a patty and apple sauce so I am happy! I did some food shopping as well and I didn't get too tired from it. Tomorrow I hope to cook! My husband (even with his wicked cold) bought me some turkey patties and Buffalo patties while I was going through this last episode- I found that when I broiled the buffalo patty the smell put me off- but I tasted it anyway and it tasted so gamey that I couldn't handle it. It's odd as usually I do not mind gamey meat at all. Although the smell of chicken soup sends me into a tizzy even when I am feeling better!! go figure! I have a really hard time understanding what is die-off and what mistakes I am making. I do know I have a yeast problem and when I am super good with the diet I feel better but when I reintroduce say a banana I seem to suffer. I am understanding that maybe I cannot eat a banana everyday and maybe I should only eat it every 4 days. But it is taking so much detective work on my behalf and a lot of self control. I feel possessed at times! I just want a banana! So yeah, I totally know how hard it is being so careful with SCD legal foods! Thanks again! Jodi SCD 6 months Crohn's/Colitis How long have you been on the diet? Has the yeast gotten any better since SCD? Do you take any meds/antifungals for the yeast? > > Hi Jodie, > > So sorry to hear what you have been going through. I too, have ups and downs and don't always know if it is die-off effects, but feel that most of the time it is. I have to really pay attention to the foods I eat, even if they are scd legal, I might not be able to tolerate them yet or maybe have had to much of something that can set off a flare-up. What I can tell you is that pureed soup really comfort me - pureed cauliflower, or asparagus, or broccoli or carrot, even tomato-minus the seeds and skin. Also buffalo meat is so much easier to digest - if it is real bison and not mixed with regular beef. Because it is so low in fat. I tried eating ground turkey and it really brothered me - I think it was the fat content - but not sure. > I've had a hard time digesting fat. Thankfully extra virgin coconut oil has been easy to tolerate and now I can tolerate olive oil. Boiled or poached eggs are easy on me too. I really feel for you and wish I was there to make you some food. But you will be in my prayers and if you have any questions that I can help with, I would be glad to. Hang in there. The one thing that helps me through any tough times is concentrating on what this diet has helped so far and sounds like you are doing that. I hope you feeling better soon.
