Guest guest
Jody, Call the Israeli Embassy and tell them what happened to you today. Then ask them what the procedure should be for bringing safe food with you. Explain to them that it is like keeping kosher -- it is not something you do because it's convenient. And " you can't do that " is no more acceptable to you than an observant Jew who is handed strips of bacon and told that this is what they'll let him have to eat. If they shrug, ask to speak to a supervisor. " I'm sorry, that's not acceptable, " can be repeated as many times as you have to. A " gluten free meal " on Continental will be LOADED with starchy junk -- I've flown Continental! In fact, NO airline's special meal is without starchy junk. (You should have seen what they gave my mom for salt-free! You might also call Digestive Wellness and see if there is anything they can suggest, or any procedure that they know of for getting safe food through. Once you're there, you may be able to get some assistance. From t's website: Rabbi Rosenbaum, in Israel. According to Roz White, " Rabbi Rosenbaum has translated the SCD book to Hebrew, and there are two stores sell DCCC and homemade SCD yoghurt in Israel. From what I know, he doesn't have an email address or web site. He sells a Hebrew translation of the SCD book with the recipes adapted for Kosher cooking. He has a monthly newsletter in Hebrew and he said he has something for beginners to ease them into the diet. Phone #: 02-532-8817 Address: POB 41061 Jerusalem, Israel The store in Bnai Brak (near Tel Aviv) is called Hoss (Heh, vav, samech is the Hebrew spelling of the store's name) and it is on the corner of the streets-Hazon Ish and Rabbi Akiva. The store in Jerusalem is called the Teva Market and it is in Shabbat Square. Guest guest
Ok, I will do that first thing this morning and follow these instructions. I am so scared of being hungry as I immediately feel like I will puke and pass out and I get hot. That is my main concern. Gonna pull out that ole' backbone. Last year- way before SCD I returned from Germany (went there to do alternative homeopathic treatment that's illegal here in USA) anyway, upon returning home via Newark airport- I was sent to immigration because I had homeopathic vials in my suitcase (legal for me to bring into USA under law with dr letter and max 6 month supply. These vials were liquid- but somewhere along the line my luggage was screened- I suspect airline? and the minute I went to the customs agent I was escorted by an armed guard downstairs where they seated me in front of a camera with a whole bunch of other people- god knows what they thought of me.) So that took 3 hellacious hours which was like straight out of some super paranoia inducing X-Files episode. After that I went to get my luggage from the carousel and a dog sniffed my shopping bag on the floor that contained get this (banana, apple, oranges and some of my brothers snacks like nuts and trailmix) and they sent us to the area where they xray everything like the " agriculture " ppl- forget how they are called. That took another 2 hours. ohh my god.. so yesterday I just wanted to get everything done and I didn't argue. But, you are so right and I will argue and pick and choose my battles.. Thanks for the encouragement and that was a long rant. Jodi > > > Jody, > > Call the Israeli Embassy and tell them what > happened to you today.
