I had mine removed before I found out I had Crohn's disease. I had one

gallbladder attack and while I was in the hospital, they did an

ultrasound and found out I had lots of gallstones. My doctor said, the

routine procedure was to have your gallbladder removed, in a very

casual manner like it wasn't a big deal. So I signed up and didn't

think twice about it. The weeks following the surgery were horrible

with chronic D. I started taking Immodium on a daily basis. Every time

I stopped, it was like water running through me. I went an complained

to my doctor and surgeon and they kept having me try different things

and reassured me this was pretty normal for some people. Finally,

after a year, I had had enough and they sent me to do an endoscopy and

colonoscopy with some blood work. Turns out I had Crohn's disease. To

make a long story short... after going through a few different drugs,

that didn't work, I was told about this diet and I got started. It

took about 2 months to wean off the Immodium and anti-acid medicine.

But now I'm doing much better.

As far as fat intake, I eat lots of it in my diet and it doesn't seem

to bother me. I have finally stopped the weight loss slide after 40

lbs. (which I could afford to loose). I regret having my gallbladder

removed. If I had to do it all over again, I would have waited for a

few more attacks or tried passing them, like my uncle does with some

oil and lemon drink. He does it about every 3-4 years and has jars of

stones to prove it. Oh well. I can't go back now.
