Have you tried Basis Face the Day lotion? It has zinc, dimethicone, SPF of

15, and I don't think there's any alcohol in it -- it's always very soothing

when I apply it.

A lot of people swear by Dove soap, but it's never agreed with my skin. I've

found I can't use soap on my face at all any more. When I could use soap,

Dove didn't agree. I used to use Laszlo black sea mud soap, which was

wonderful, but is now too strong for me. I used Cetaphil on my derm's

recommendation for almost four years but it didn't improve my skin's

condition at all. Then I tried Aderma Septalibour, which has oat milk and

other soothing ingredients, and my skin liked that, but still no huge

improvement. I then sent for the Sher system, which actually is based on

Laszlo principles, and my skin is thriving on it -- improvement at last. But

I still use Basis Face the Day moisturizing lotion during the day as a

sunscreen against fluorescent lights, etc. Just be careful to buy Face the

Day -- some of the other Basis products have alpha hydroxy acid in them,

which I find to be lethal to my skin.

Hi !

I'm having trouble with the products I use as well.

DOVE - I've used Dove soap for Sensitive Skin for years. Be sure to get

the right box. The derms always said it was the best, I always liked it.

3 years ago my rosacea skin was very oily. Now it's very dry and so I

think I'm going to try the Zia cleanser starting tomorrow. I know how

scary it is to change anything b/c you don't want your skin to get even

worse!

Moisturizers - I've been using Eucerin which really helped to get me

over a severe dryness hurdle. I think it's leading to breakouts now,

though so I'm still searching myself.

Good luck on your quest for non-irritating products! Talk to you soon.

Diane,

Where can one find the Basis Face the Day moisturizer? Also, what is the

percentage of zinc oxide in this product?

Thanks for your assistance,

Mark

If you can't find it at your local drugstore/grocery, it's available from

drugstore.com - $6.99+shipping for 4 fl oz. Don't know the percentage of zinc

oxide, but according to drugstore.com the ingredients list is:

Active Ingredients: Per container: Octyl Methoxycinamate, Zinc Oxide

Inactive Ingredients: Triple Purified Water, Cyclomethicone, Isopropyl

Palmitate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7,

Cholecalciferol, Retinyl Palmitate, Aloe Vera Gel, Panthenol, Oat Beta Glucan,

Green Tea Extract, Allantoin, Dimethicone, Myristyl Myristate, Sorbitan

Stearate, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben,

<< I paid $7.99 for a four ounce bottle. >>

And I paid $60 for a 1.7 oz bottle of Estee Lauder's Verite Calming Fluid!!

I feel like a sucker.
