Hi .... You're doing your research! Very good! Instead of trying to

find " the best surgery, " try making a list of all the features each surgery

has to offer. They are all very unique and offer such different routes to

go. I talked to a man the other night trying to decide on the MGB or the

DS & in the end, his priority was not to be under anestesia for a 3 hour

surgery & went with the MGB becuase of the 40 minute surgery time. Another

wanted the " dumping syndrome " associated with the RNY so she wouldn't eat

sweets & would change her eating habits. This was most important to her and

the other risks were OK with her. For me, long term success of the

procedure was most important to me. I didn't care about open or lap, long

scar, short scar, I wanted long term success. I went with the DS. In the

end, it all depends on YOUR personal preference and not which surgery is

" best " but which surgery is " best for YOU. " Hope this helps....... heidi
