Guest guest
Hi everyone, Our insurance company has just denied us any OT and PT visits based on it is not medically necassary. Our plan offers it and we have a Dr.'s note saying it is medically necassary to receive both based on his verbal apraxia, hypotonia and fine motor issues. If anyone has any info re: how to fight this part please send it to me. Additionally they are now reviewing speech services which they have been paying since last June and with the exception of clarification of who the SLP was they have never questioned that either. I think I have enough ammunition for the speech fight but the PT and OT I don't even know where to look. Thanks in advance. denise - in NJ
Guest guest
Hi ! I was originally denied all of those services by Cigna (now have Horizon) but when I spoke with my client rep. and requested that the Medical Director (a doctor) review my expert reports/eval's, then I was immediately approved. Guest guest
You can expect some gentle strengthening exercizes for you front and back core muscles. Also you may do some " nerve gliding " exercizes which help loosen prevent scar tissue from sticking to your nerves that run down your leg. Also you will need to stretch your tight quad muscles. I would suggest that you try to locate a PT/MT which is a Physical Therapist who also is a Massage Therapist. They are able to do more " body work " which involves massage and cranio-sacral therapy, which is great for the beat up muscle and tissue that you have now from surgery. It will make you feel worlds better. I waited so long to start because I was hurting and I couldn't imagine doing therapy, but as soon as I started, I got so much relief from my pain. You'd be surprised at how much pain is caused my muscle weakness! Try to find some aqua therapy as well. Guest guest
Hi , I had wondered the same thing when I was sent to PT before undergoing lumbar fusion surgery but now I'm so grateful that I did. Anything that one can do pre-op to help strengthen the legs and the upper body will be of great benefit and it will make the post-op recovery allot easier and faster. I'm starting to feel so much better now just short of a month post-op and I try to walk as much as possible while being careful not to overdo anything. I'm really looking forwards to being sent back to PT and starting out in the pool. Best wishes, Calvin OT and PT I am 6 weeks out from fusion surgery. The surgeon now wants me to go to PT and OT for 60 minutes 2-3 times a day for a month. The last time I had surgery I never had to go through OT or PT. What do they do and what can I expect? Thank you _________________________________________________________________ Internet Explorer 8 - Get your Hotmail Accelerated.
