Guest guest
Hi Kara, Believe me, put N*O*T*H*I*N*G in her mouth prior to her therapies (except for her own fingers). While I am no expert, I do believe that it won't " just happen " . If your current OT doesn't have experience with kids like ours, I encourage you to keep looking for others who do. It doesn't have to be an OT. Some speech pathologists know this area too. But, it took months before would bite down on a tootsie roll. That reminds me of one thing we did early on. We always washed her face with a wash cloth.....and followed the same pattern....first eyes, then nose, then mouth. First I would just wipe her lips. Then we worked up to the teeth. Then, the gums. Then really rubbing the gums....and always in a predictable order...such as upper right, then upper left, lower right, etc. Then I would put pressure on her bottom teeth to encourage resistance. This took weeks of time before I got " in her mouth " with the wash cloth. But, it was a start. Maybe that is where Kaci is. From my understanding, you need to find her current level of comfort...and build from there. (It sounds so easy!( & $(@* & $().... I know how frustrating the whole thing is. I don't know why she would do well for 3 days and then stop. But I do know that any progress seems to make the regression all the more painful to accept. As for the GH, it doesn't seem to be working yet for . We started the first week of January. I measure her on the wall each month. I'm not going to pass judgement until our official endo. appt in mid-May. I hope we can share more over time Irene Mom to , 3 years old, 24 pounds, 33 " , GH, G=tube, reflux
Guest guest
Irene, don't give up on the gh. might not be getting enough just yet. Max has really slowed down with his growth, so Dr. H. has increased the amount. Sometimes it just takes a little longer. Try to avoid the measuring every month. It is really tempting to see the immediate results, but wait a bit longer. I'll bet that you see something happen soon.
