Guest guest
I wrote this email to this very nice person- I am just going to post the same one as it states what I need to know!! , I got to the link and I clicked on google translate still the language barrier is very tricky and I would have to go back and translate each page. It's causing me stress! I don't know german at all! I have been there a few times and I have an electronic translator! That is my extent of German, I wish I knew more. I saw you were right as they only had 11 new messages and these groups have way more activity!! So, I hope I will have more luck trying to find people here. Maybe you can ask a question for me there?? Only if you do not mind??? You can provide my email address or fwd this email to the group! Or do both. If anyone would be willing to help me! If you are tired or not in the mood I understand! I do not want to inconvenience you. These are some questions that would really help me; We will be staying in hamburg in a rented flat with a kitchen. I am unsure of the equipment in the kitchen. I would like a blender but I understand I cannot bring mine from here as the converter will be tricky to find for a machine that needs a zing of power!! Are hand mixer like this one expensive in Germany? How much would something like this cost? Where would I buy it? If anyone has a different idea for me I would be very open to hear ANY suggestions! http://www.braun.com/me_en/products/fooddrink/foodpreparation/handprocessors/mr4\ \ 000.html Also, was wondering about a yogurt maker or maybe I can bring mine from here along with yogurt cultures? Do you think my yogurt maker could work with a voltage converter? Would low fat Bio-Milk be ok? I am very sensitive and I believe through experience in being in Germany (Pre- SCD this is my first time traveling to your wonderful country on the diet) that Bio products in general are superior to what we have here in the States. Anyone in Germany that can advise me about shopping and labels in general? What to look out for? I don't plan on buying too much packaged food only like Cashew Musse, Butter. My husband does the diet to support me and he feels so much better that he is sticking to it! So he wants to be SCD in Germany too. But if he makes a mistake it's ok for me it's horrible. So , I worry about cheeses, meats. What to do since I am arriving on Easter Saturday very early in the morning! Stores will be closed! Is there a 24 hour supermarket? Do those markets sell Bio products at all?? We do not celebrate Easter so we bought the tickets not even knowing about this! Which will make things much more challenging! Are there any places to buy a rotisserie chicken? Any steak houses or restaurants I can go to for breakfast as well? for my first day or two since stores will be closed? Are places ok with just giving meat, fish grilled with no sauce? With a plain vegetable? What about Eggs? Do you think a restaurant in a hotel might be more accommodating? What about small stores to buy food in like kiosks? I am planning on bringing some food from here in my large suitcase and my carry-on as well as food for the plane. I hope this works out but sometimes they are so cuckoo that in the past (Pre-SCD) I have had much of my food thrown out due to " Security reasons " ! Any help, wisdom, ideas, guidance would be very much appreciated!! Jodi SCD 5 months Crohn's/Colitis
