Hey Nina in MA,

This is very interesting. I cannot tolerate OoO but I would be

curious to know what you find out and experience with this- please

keep me posted!

Did he explain any more about why low dose regimens promote

resistance? Is it just because the bacteria get used to it?

Thanks,

Jodi

addition to SCD and Nystatin.)

enteric-coated capsules as they protect the gut. He also said to use a

high-dose regimen (he said that low-dose OOO regimens can promote

resistance and thus declining efficacy.) Given the higher dosage he

wants me on, enteric coating is even more important.

Jodi wrote:"Did <your doctor> explain any more about why low-dose regimens promote resistance? Is it just because the bacteria get used to it?"-----------------Hi Jodi,Yup, exactly. He said that when you take a lower dose over a longer period of time, some of the yeast/bacteria survive the treatment and breed resistance in that environment during exposure. He favours a high-dose treatment over a shorter duration to kill off both the weak and the strong (prone to resistance) yeast. My stomach wouldn't survive treatment with a high-dose agent of any kind without enteric coating. I'm glad my doctor is looking out for me :-)Best, Nina in MA
