This is a parent training model in which the Behavior Analyst will conduct functional assessment, develop strategies and coach parents to implement the strategies designed to replace child's targeted "problem" behaviors with more adaptive alternatives. In order to be eligible children must display maladaptive behavior, be between ages of 3 and 18 (21 if still enrolled in degree seeking education program), have a Developmental Disability, and NOT be enrolled in Med Waiver. We also have openings in our Parents as Teachers Program. This is a replication of the national PAT program, an award winning best practice family strenghening program which, in partnership with the PAT National Center, ARC has adapted exclusively for children with special needs. The program serves children birth through age 5 (age 7 if developmental age is 5 or younger) and provides parent education and support through personal visits in which the developmental curriculum designed by neuroscientists is implemented, family group meetings, developmental screenings, and case management to link families to community resources.
