Guest guest
Hi Jodi, I really think my 10 year old autistic son has yeast. The tests say no but I heard 90% of the time they are inaccurate. I have major yeast and one of my other children has health issues and milder yeast. I would love any information you have. jo In BTVC-SCD , " kkmumbower " wrote: > > Jodi > > I dealt with a major candida/yeast overgrowth at the same time as I started SCD. Took me 2 years to get my yeast levels under control, so I have lots of experience in how to select SCD-legals that my digestion would tolerate along with killing off the high levels of yeast. Basically I read up on yeast/candida elimination strategies, then applied them to SCD legal foods and supplements. Lots of trial and error. > > SCD is close to a yeast elimination diet, but I found that my symptoms were severe enough I wanted to speed up the process of restoring my gut ecology. So I just eliminated or didn't eat much of the foods that just feed yeast, so I could kill them off. Because I couldn't tolerate antifungals, and it took me 4 months before I could handle probiotics, it took me a longer time than usual to get the yeast under control. > > Symptoms connected with yeast/candida tend to be immune system related, although there can be an impact on digestion too. Symptoms connected more to yeast/candida overgrowth are : skin rashes, vaginal or genitourinary rashes and discharge, mouth sores, oral thrush, dry chapped lips and skin around mouth, watery eyes, sore throat, headaches, fatigue, fluid in ears, aching joints..... Basically the body's immune system can't cope with the toxins released by high levels of yeast. > > Foods high in carbs and sugars, like carrots, beets, winter squashes, fruits; foods high in molds like cheese, mushrooms, whole nuts; and fermented foods like vinegar and wine; are all foods that tend to encourage yeast to overgrow. Having poor digestion or digestive disorders on top of this also means more fermentation in the gut, which also encourage the yeast to overgrow..... > > I put together some files on dealing with yeast/candida along with being on SCD for another SCD group I'm in. Let me know offlist and I can email them to you. > > Kim M. > SCD 4+ years > > > >>>>>>>>>>> > How does one know if they are feeding Candida or if the Disease is > just acting up? Guest guest
hey maryjo, i am combating these bad bacteria but my knowledge is quite limited!! also, i am just learning how to tailer all of this new info to fit my personal needs on scd. which is a hit and miss for me with many many mistakes and set-backs. so i don't feel qualified at all to give any advice whatsoever about this! i was feeling better yesterday and then i had some fish for dinner and i made like a tomato sauce and i got such bad nausea but i could not vomit so it just lingered all night which was horrible and then i was fine. i woke up this morning feeling fine!!! it is the oddest thing!! my tongue looks better too! it's still coated but not nearly as bad! kim has a lot of useful information about tailoring a candida diet for scd!! she uploaded the files " candida " ! she is super knowledgeable about this aspect and many other things!! hope this helps.. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BTVC-SCD/files/Candida%20or%20Yeast%20Infor\ mation/ jodi > > Hi Jodi, > > I really think my 10 year old autistic son has yeast. It's pretty good at settling stomachs. Unless you have a sensitivity to it. > kim has a lot of useful information about tailoring a candida diet for > scd!! she uploaded the files " candida " ! she is super knowledgeable > about this aspect and many other things!! I think the original poster inadvertently posted to you instead of Kim. Mara
