Guest guest
Hi. I am still reading " Breaking the Vicious Cycle, " and maybe the answer to my first question is in there, but I have yet to find it. Therefore, to satisfy my curiosity I will ask it here now: Why are bifidum bacteria not allowed on SCD? For at least 10 years, my preferred yogurt has been Astro Biobest plain (unflavoured) yogurt. This was the first brand of yogurt with live cultures I ever found that agreed with my digestive system as well as my taste buds. It contains lactobacilli and bifidum bacteria. Would the fact that my system tolerates this yogurt have any merit against the possibility that home-made yogurt made with whatever SCD legal yogurt starter might not be tolerable? I noticed this morning that it also contains pectin. So, my second question is about pectin. Isn't pectin found in fruits that are allowed on SCD, such as apples? So, why is pectin on the illegal list? My third question: Are there any commercially made plain yogurt brands in Ontario stores that might be SCD-legal? I am planning to try making yogurt, using a fixed temperature cooker I have had for more than 20 years. It's sort of like a slow cooker except that it holds foods at a constant temperature in a water bath set to the desired temperature. The appliance is called a Smart Pot, but it's not the Smart Pot slow cooker that Rival now sells. Thanks.
