Guest guest
We just had 's MRI done (post op approximately 16 months - third decompression, odontoidectomy, halo brace for four months, revision of the original dura plasty/spinal fusion). I have scanned a copy and you can see the syrinx in the cord -- thought some that have not seen one yet might wish to see it. On the official reading report, there is a comment that " there are extensive postoperative changes at the craniocervical junction with soft tissue denisty posteriorly. " I have spoken with Kathleen (thanks Kathleen for trying to reassure Dave and I) about this soft tissue thing and we both feel they might be talking about scar tissue --- do any of you know what else it could mean? We really didn't want to see scar tissue so quickly. Her syrinx is " moderate to large extending from C5-T6. The largest area is at T5 where the maximal diameters rae 6 by 6mm. The syrinx may be slightly more prominent in comparison with the previous studies dating back to 1/25/99. " The scans of 1/25/99 are prior to her list of surgical procedures above. She goes back to see Milhorat on November 2 but we were wondering what others might make of this development. The good news is that the cervical syrinx looks better. Thanks for your help.
