Guest guest
Hi Lowi dear, Katrina is doing beautifully. The plaster cast is from just below the knee to her toes and she is ticked off because there is a black fibreglass wrap over the top; where are we supposed to write messages? I did suggest that she attach a whiteboard and pen but for some reason she said no. She said if they try to do the second operation next month she's going to run away to Grandma's. Anyway she is bored witless, poor dear. She seems to have read every book in the house that is any good, and at this point I should explain that we have about 3,500 books of various kinds. She has found my true crime books, lots of gore there, and has browsed quite a bit. Hopefully back to school next week part time, then two weeks of holidays. You know what I am noticing? Katrina can't get around without her walking frame because she isn't allowed to put her foot to the floor, so if she wants something someone has to get it for her. Madeleine has taken on the job of lady's maid, quite unasked, and it is just lovely to hear Katrina asking for something ever so politely and then have Madel do it. Out of adversity.... Lowi, stewed rhubarb leaves is another one of my specialities. Also I do a mean Chicken Runs, which is best made in summer - the secret is to leave the chicken out in the sun for two days just to add that extra tang. Then there's my famous Anthrax Surprise which I am making for the Oz adventure next year. Georgia, off to make scones.
