Hi, s Dr. just changed him from ritalin to Metadate CD 20mg.

2x's a day. I am still giving him the 2 proefa and 1 proepa with

this. Is this to much? Should I stop the proefa/epa? I loved the

product but derek needed more for his add causing severe stress and

anxiety bad enough to put ulcers in his stomach. But I love the way

his language developed on the proefa/proepa. Has anyone ever heard of

this new medication? Good or Bad? I am scared of it because I have

never heard of it. God how I wish he didn't need anything like that

but his anxiety is way to bad. He is not hyper at all. Please let me

now any info. anyone has on the meds. and let me know if the pro???

are just to much stimulation along with the meds. for the brain.

Thank you,

Pam

Hi Pam: Ritalin or Metadate has nothing to do with ProEFA.

One of the side effects of Ritalin & Metadate is Anxiety---- so he should not be

on them if his primary

problem is anxiety- I would check with your Dr for exactly what reason he

prescribed them for your son.

>>Metadate® CD Capsules are contraindicated in patients with marked anxiety,

tension, and/or

agitation since the drug may aggravate these symptoms. <<

Also: Metadate is time release- and many children with apraxia do not do well on

time- release meds of any sort.

Pam,

I thought Metadate was just the long acting ritalin, so you only have

to give it to him once in the morning. I could be wrong.....

Hi Carolyn:

Some kids have absorption problems and/or leaky gut/ too much zinc , too much

copper/ too little copper- etc etc., so some cannot process the time release

meds properly. Most ADHD kids that do not process the medication properly

proportionally " burn " the amount of medicine with the amount of stress they are

under...

Re: [ ] Re: proefa/metadate cd

So, do would kids with apraxia also have problems with time release vitamins

and what is causing the problem? thanks, Carolyn
