WORM ALERT: Don't open anything from me but THIS

This is being addressed to every address in my addressbook.

Sometime around noon (CST) today, I got the " goner " virus that's rampant

today. So far as I know, this did NOT get sent on to anyone else (I

don't use Outlook or ICQ, which I believe are what this worm uses to

propagate) but be warned: Anything you got from me today between noon

and now should NOT be opened.

If you haven't heard, the Goner worm comes as an e-mail with the subject

line " Hi. "

It then goes on, in the body of the message, to say something like " I

saw this cute screensaver and immediately thought of you. I'm in a

harry [sic] but I promise you'll love this. " This came to me (no doubt

without her knowledge) from the e-mail address of a former VP of the

company by which I'm employed, and I opened it! This is the second time

this week I've had the opportunity to feel very blonde -- but it was a

" scr " file, not an exe, from someone I had no reason to distrust, and I

wasn't thinking!

If I did help propagate this godawful virus, I am heartily sorry. I

don't know yet the extent of what it's done to my system, but it did

wipe out ZoneAlarm, my firewall, which I have now reloaded. I'm about

to see what else is gone . . . I'm keeping my fingers crossed it didn't

take anything I need to earn a living!
