Guest guest
Tami, The article Kathy posted to you about Medicare reminded me of a question i have for you. Like you, i receive SSDI and Medicaid and am eligible for the new Medicare prescription program. After a lot of research (and confusion), i decided to go with the AARP-endorsed plan, since it covers hormones (both thyroid and female) that i will be starting soon. However, it does not automatically cover anything from a compounding pharmacy -- though it's possible i could get an exception if i prove, with a doctor's backing, that i can't tolerate the binders and fillers in the commercially-available preparations. I plan to take that route. So, my question is: does the plan that you picked clearly say that it covers Rx's from compounding pharmacies? If so, you're very fortunate! (And if it does, i'd like to get the name again from you.) Also, i just want to be sure that you're aware that, if you don't like the plan that you picked, for whatever reason, you have the option to change to another plan at any time. This is NOT true for people who are paying premiums. So, here's a rare case where it pays to be poor! I hope that you're doing better. I think your decision to start working with Dr. Metzger is great. From everything i've heard about her approach, she's the kind of doctor i would like to work with --- and may at some point.
