Guest guest
Sorry Jess, looks like I replied before reading both posts, and I didn't see that Dee already replied. I don't always get all my email at the same time with hotmail;) Bunny. The 'skin bridge' that I have is not related to LS. I don't have LS according to the specialist, I have exsema and vestibulodynia as a result of this. The skin bridge (i have now heard from people) is the skin at 6 0 clock which is apparently common in some women and is not always realted to LS (I do have this pieace of skin). This skin bridge causes me no problems. I will ask what she means by this but I've heard from other women that it is the skin at 6 0 clock which looks like skin in between your fingers. The skin bridge is not across the vaginal opening, and I don't have any kind of fusing as the specialist told me I don't have LS and that my vulva looks normal apart from the inflammation. I have no damage from steroid cream and I am going to use the steroid cream I have been prescribed once a day for 3 months so that I can get the inflammation under control. This is reccomended to me by my specialist here. I have no concerns about using this cream under her supervision. Thanx for your reply but the 'skin bridge' (in case we have scared people who have been told they have a 'skin bridge' into thinking they have fusing and that their vaginas are ceasing up!)in most cases, the skin bridge is the skin at the back of the vagina at the 6 0 clock position, which looks like the skin in between your fingers. The skin bridge is the 'fusing' itself or adhesion, it's a sort of bridge of skin that attaches one part of the skin to the other, Similiar to when the smaller labial lips fuse or adhere to the larger ones, they form a bridge of tissue between them. If you go to http://health.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/LichenSclerosis/photos/view/cdf2?b=4 You'll see an excellent drawing presentation of those bridges. If that link doesn't take you there, from our Home page, go to Photos, then click the folder that says 'Fusing, clitoral release' and in there you'll see it (along with others) .....it's a red drawing. The Erythema (quite marked) means pretty severe inflammation hon. So all in all hon esp. with those bridges it does sound like it could be LS..... BUT...... those bridges or fusing can also be caused by extreme trauma and it's the way of the skin trying to heal itself. It 'might' also be caused by 'overuse' and for much too long usage of the steroids as those (with overuse) can do that as well much like giving one a chemical burn OR even extreme overuse of antiyeast medications (if used vaginally) so it's natures way of healing us as well. Just like when we 'graft' a tree etc.... the two cut sides heal and grow together (forms those bridges holding it together) and those of all the types are the most likely to 'unfuse' with the Estrace and Estrace is known to soften up scar tissue as well and basically that's what it is... scar tissue'. hope that helps hon. hugs Dee~ **IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, THANKS** Our HOME page is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VulvarDisorders to search our archives, files, articles, etc. ***
