Hi everyone,

Mallory (18 months with RAD, GERD, CF) learned to swallow her creon 10

capsules and her Prilosec capsules this weekend!

we had planned to try to teach her as soon as we got the special cup from

Grandma BEv (thanks, Grandma Bev--it came tonite...) but my 4 yo son

beat us all to the punch. We had all gone out to eat, including my sister

and her daughter 2 yo with CF. was next to Mallory and

all of a sudden he said " Mommy, look at Mallory--I taught her to swallow her

enzymes! " Mallory was looking at us with her mouth wide open to prove

nothing was in there (like she has seen do when he shows some new and

usually impressed adult how he swallows his enzymes...). , apparently,

had picked up an empty capsule (from where we dumped out the beads into the

applesauce at the beginning of the meal...), stuck it in her mouth, and gave

her a drink.... Just to prove it, he did it again with another empty

capsule... She was so proud of herself. We tried it more and more the rest

of the weekend--for Ron, she seemed to be able to only swallow creon 5's and

Prilosec, which are both smaller, but today she took all three creon 10's and

her prilosec at dinner by swallowing whole. How cool, our lives will be so

much simpler!

Grandma Bev, I will pass the cup along to the Pediatrician who has a stubborn

4 yo patient who apparently would rather have shots of rocephin than swallow

liquid antibiotics. I told him to teach the kid to swallow pills...so if its

ok, I will pass your cup along to that " needy " family

is very proud of his accomplishment in teaching his sister to do this.

Anyone want to rent a 4 yearold enzyme swallowing teacher?

Funny, the things we celebrate these days...I felt like calling everyone we

know!

TAke care everyone,

Jennie and Ron, parents of Mallory 18 months with RAD, GERD, CF; 3

with CF; 4, Miranda 7, 13 yo foster daughter and aunt/uncle to

2 yo with CF
