Guest guest
Help Bring Attention to Health Care Issues for People with Disabilities Members of the Obama Health Care Transition team, including former Senator Tom Daschle (incoming Secretary of Health and Human Services), are soliciting comments and recommendations on health care reform via an internet blog on the transition website (www.Change.gov). Although we know they can’t possibly read all of the submissions, we understand that the transition team is reviewing comments and using technology to track topical issues and key words. This is a good opportunity to raise the level of awareness and importance about disability issues in health care reform. Some issues that would make good posts include: · Health promotion and prevention of secondary conditions · Interdisciplinary training of health care professionals in the area of disability · Health disparities for individuals with disabilities · Transitions of children with disabilities from pediatric to adult care · Inclusion of long-term care services and supports in any comprehensive health care reform Personal stories about the health care system and individuals with disabilities also make great posts. There are also several resources on the AUCD website under Health Care Policy. To submit a post, go to the following link: http://change.gov/newsroom/entry/join_the_discussion_daschles_healthcare_response/ We also invite you to copy AUCD on your submissions so that we, too, can monitor the issues you are experiencing as we provide input into the health care reform policy debates.
