Guest guest
Hi everyone, First - thanks to all for the dental problem response. It is very curious that a lot of RP patients have this. I am going to call Brett's doctor and mention his problems w/ his teeth to her also. He is 37 and needs all crowns... his teeth are decaying. We met w/ Brett's Dr. and got the results of his blood work. I did get copies. She said his blood work was normal except for his white blood cell count. This was something that was noticed in 1992 - he saw an oncologist then and they did a bone marrow - found nothing at that time. Dr. said she needs more info on this because it might interfere w/ some of the meds ( a strain of steriods) she would treat him w/ lik Meth. etc SHE DID START HIM ON PREDNISONE. She saw that the involvement had progressed over his nose and to his other ear. She is giving him 40 mg for three days, 30 the next three, 20 the next three and then 10 til our next appointment Nov. 30th. She warned him about possible weight gain and crankiness. He will start this tomorrow. I hope that it will be enough of a dose to help -- do you think it is ? The doctor asked if Brett was having fevers too. I told her we don't own a thermometer...she laughed. I guess we'll purchase one. I have the lab report w/ me ... though I don't understand what all the numbers are. She said all were in the normal...healthy range but don't let that fool us. Oh well...I hope Brett doesn't get too cranky since we're going on vacation next week.... I'll keep you posted. B.
