Guest guest
Jody, You can learn an amazing amount talking to people at Farmer's Markets... and maybe teach a few things, too. There's a line from one of n Zimmer Bradley's books, a proverb attributed to one of the cultures she invented: " There is none so old she cannot learn, and none so young she cannot teach. " I learn things every day from people on the lists, and I expect to be learning decades from now. (I have a 12,000 book library here in my home.) We have had reports of agri-business firms adulterating honey with corn syrup or HFCS. This is why we must look for " pure honey " or " 100% pure honey. " I hadn't heard about the maple syrup adulteration, but it somehow doesn't surprise me. If you've been getting pure honey, what you might be reacting to is something similar to the folks who need pastured meat: they can't candle grains even after it goes through the cow and into its meat. I'm quite sure that honey made by bees fed corn syrup has many differences from honey made by bees who consume their normal, varied diet, just as there is a difference in the quality and texture of the meat, and the taste and appearance of eggs and milk from pastured animals. The unfiltered honey may be OK once you have healed. But Elaine was adamant that the pollens and impurities could be detrimental to our guts while they are healing. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
