I feel fortunate to find this book, after experiencing worsening

problems with low abdominal pain, bloating and constipation/

occasional D. Also fatigue and spaciness, with mega sugar

addiction. I have diverticulosis, but no other diagnosis. I have

also had several episodes of eczema, which I am now wondering if

it's related to GI issues (especially constipation). Years ago I had

a test by a naturopath that indicated that I had multiple allergies,

mainly to grains and sugar, also dairy.

Since I do not have severe symptoms or D recently, I just started on

the diet with all foods except the illegals (this is my second day).

So far my bloating and pain have decreased. I hope this approach is

OK. I will be watching to see which foods cause me problems.

I am concerned about eating DCCC and yogurt, because of previous

problems with dairy. I realize that SCD yogurt has no lactose, but

do people still have problems with the milk proteins? Do I need to

just try out the yogurt and see how I do with it? I'm making my

first batch now!

(BTW, I found this book after pretty severe cramps, constipation,

bloat and pain after having a daily protein drink of soymilk and

whey protein recommended by a personal trainer. I realized that I

just was so confused about what foods would be healthy for me).

Thanks!

Laurel

You really ought to start with the beginning diet, as it

clears out your symptom and gives you a place to start.

It's recommended - you only have to stay on for 2 days

if you have no symptoms. And add in food slowly.

Starting by eating everything at once may prove less

effective. There really are no shortcuts with SCD.

As for the yogurt try only half a teaspoon at first to find

out about whether you react to it or not. If you are reactive

to the casein element in milk and not the lactose, you will

react to the yogurt.

You might also try goat yogurt, as some find that easier to

digest as the molecules are smaller.
