Guest guest
hi all- i am flying this monday to israel from NY. today i was in the israeli embassy and they confiscated all the snacks (APPLE and FLAT BREAD made out of almond flour from scd bakery) from my bag including the water despite my protests that i have serious food allergies. this makes me feel that this might have been a " dress rehearsal " as to whats to come for my monday trip. perhaps israeli's are more rigorous for security reasons, i don't know. i want to prepare a menu for my 12+ hrs travel. does anyone know of a bag that doesnt need liquid/ice to keep it cool? a menu that has no liquids what-so-ever. been on the diet now for 3.5 months. tolerate meats, chicken, veggies, fruits well. cant eat whole nuts, the peel of the apple, cheese, seeds, not too much yogurt only a little at a time. i take the lyosan. i really appreciate any help so i wont go hungry. my husband said i can order a gluten free meal on continental but i feel that would be gambling and i dont want a setback for my trip. your friend, jodi
Guest guest
Can you ask the airline if they can provide hard boiled eggs, or bring your own and eat then first. Can you take dried fruit? Can you ask the stewardess to peel the apple? Can you make some hard candy with honey and butter? How about banana? Make beef jerky. It doesn't need refrigeration. Those things should be enough if you sleep a lot of the time on the plane. How about squash fries? > hi all- > > i am flying this monday to israel from NY. today i > was in the israeli embassy and they confiscated all > the snacks (APPLE and FLAT BREAD made out of almond flour > from scd bakery) from my bag including the water despite my > protests that i have serious food allergies. this > makes me feel that this might have been a " dress > rehearsal " as to whats to come for my monday trip. > perhaps israeli's are more rigorous for security reasons, > i don't know. > > i want to prepare a menu for my 12+ hrs travel. does > anyone know of a bag that doesnt need liquid/ice to keep it cool? > a menu that has no liquids what-so-ever. been on > the diet now for 3.5 months. tolerate meats, chicken, veggies, fruits > well. > > cant eat whole nuts, the peel of the apple, cheese, > seeds, not too much yogurt only a little at a time. > i take the lyosan. > > i really appreciate any help so i wont go hungry. > my husband said i can order a gluten free meal on continental but i > feel that would be gambling and i dont want a setback for my trip. > > your friend, > jodi > > > > >

I am so scared of being hungry as I immediately feel like I will puke and pass out and I get hot. That is my main concern. Well, I don't blame you at all. My reaction to hunger is to become very weepy and furiously angry. Which doesn't help one's negotiating skills in dealing with bureaucrats. >> Gonna pull out that ole' backbone. << Indeed! You had a perfectly horrid experience, and I don't blame you for being apprehensive about the whole thing. How long is your flight to Israel? Do you have an plane changes? How much food (and what) would you ordinarily eat during that time frame? These are all things to consider.
