Guest guest
here is an old post from the AMOS Site by our owm : I think that the verbage you are looking for is here: here's a URL for the NIH publication entitled " Gastric Surgery for Severe Obesity " : http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/nutrit/pubs/gastsurg.htm. This was originally published in April 1996, and does not include any information regarding the duodenal switch variation to the BPD. I have recently corresponded with an officer of the ASBS (American Society for Bariatric Surgery), who has informed me that the ASBS believes the BPD/DS is a valid wls surgery for properly selected patients in the hands of knowlegeable and competant Bariatric Surgeons. There is a compendium on Bariatric Surgery that will be published in the 1st qtr 2000. It will clearly address that issue and leave no doubt of the position. I hope this helps! - Magruder Click Here to Return W Pre -op Dr. Denied on 10/26 and fighting mad!!! - Prudential POS 5'5'' 301 - BMI 51 Mire fuera de Prudencial, está muy enojado.... Guest guest
I must be dense because I could not find that info anywhere in that post or on that site. Maybe I wasn't clear what I'm looking for. I keep hearing the phrase that " only 2% - 5% of people who need to lose weight can actually lose the weight and keep it off with diet and exercise alone " or something to that effect. I need to know the exact verbage of that quote and the source of that study. If I just include that statistic and don't back it up, the person reading my letter will just say, " Oh yeah? According to whom? " I want to nip that reaction in the bud. Thanks for your help and any help forthcoming! -Sherr (Lake Marcel, WA) pre-op bpd/ds surgery not covered due to exclusion - fighting it!
