Guest guest
I posted earlier that I had my first photoderm on Monday. Several people have requested details. I was first diagnosed with cea about 3 years ago. I am now 40. My cheeks, nose and chin are constantly red. I have occasional (once every 3 weeks) bump develop somewhere on my face. I have some visible blood vessels. I have never been aware of any triggers or flare-ups (this may be because I haven't ever paid much attention). I actually never even noticed the redness very much. I guess I didn't think other people could tell. I have never paid attention to what products I use. Recently, I was in a networking meeting where an image consultant mentioned my " skin condition " and suggested that I never wear the color red. I have been more aware since then. Thanks a lot! On Monday, Dr. Rick of the Plano Dermatology Associates (suburb of Dallas) did my first session. The specifics are (for those who this means something to)-570 nm, J-55, triple pulse, total of 65 pulses. This covered my whole face. He thinks that my particular results look so good that I may be happy without any more treatments. If I need more treatments, I can do partial sessions. The first session was $600 for 30 minutes. Partial sessions are pro-rated per 10 minutes. I have heard that some people recommend at least 5 treatments or the problem can recur. I will check into that some more. Dr. was part of the FDA trials for photoderm and he teaches other Dr. how to use it. He has a good reputation around here. So far, he has just said that I can come in for touch ups as I see fit. My insurance won't cover this-they had never even heard of it. The insurance person says that a few plans do cover it. You just have to prove medical necessity. I am pretty bruised on one side of my face. I can already see that the other side is not as red as it used to be-however, I am on a steroid cream for 5 days after the treatment, so this could be helping the red, too. He says to wait 4 weeks to see the result. I am very pleased so far. It wasn't uncomfortable. I'll keep you posted. Dianne
