Guest guest
Louise; I think that ketosis happens on a no/extremely low carb diet. It has to be pretty low/no carb. All of the following foods below are carbohydrates..........just not the complex carbohydrates. This is a specific carb diet not a no carb diet. > juice, using 100% organic concentrate lemon, which agrees with me. (see my note below) > zucchini, carrots, green beans > eating a little bit of banana bread (but my home support will try making > squash bread for Friday)(......my recipe has honey........this is quite a high source of carb actually even in small amounts. ) > > 1/2 avocado (doing better than I thought I would) > pears sometimes > 1/2 banana sometimes (but I'm thinking of cutting them out) > squash > During the second week I tried stewed prunes a few times when I felt a bit > constipated. For a while I went on a meat only diet.......with a few veggies.....very limited and I still did not go into ketosis. At the time it was how I felt best. This was before I learned of my chemical sensitivities and I am not recommending it.....just saying that I did not go into ketosis at that time because the very few carbs I was getting were enough to prevent it. It can be a real concern but I think only if you are lower carb than you posted here depending upon the quantities of the foods you are eating. For the lemon juice, you could try just squeezing a half organic lemon. You can take any excess and make lemon juice ice cubes by freezing it in an ice cube container that you can tolerate.....then pop them out and label them and you have your own little preserved (by freezing) lemon juice. I can find organic lemons by the bag at our Walmart of all places. I do not use a lot of lemon now but when I did, I would often buy one bag and premake these cubes. When you do not want it cold.......just set one out to melt and then use as normal. There is something added to the concentrate that I would not recommend. A lot of those natural flavors really get me and cause heightened sensitivities for me. I tolerate the applesauce well........and even am able to put my bisalts into it.......have you tried this yet? It depnds upon the individual of course. I am non reactive to apples....but tolerate them best still as the applesauce.....and it seems overwhelming but is not difficult to make. I myself never did too well with the intro diet and have since found out that I am sensitive to the chicken and many of the things I was putting into the broth. Chicken and egg are the same food family.............so it is good to be cautious there. Hope something here can help. Michele
