Guest guest
Hey , As your Dr., since he thinks that internet sites are "bogus" if he would prefer to have the medical records and/or testimony of several hundred people. My medical records are very clear about the spreading of RSD and I do have pictures which document same. Also, they used my first lumbar block as another diagnostic tool. The temp in my foot went up considerably during the block, one of the ways they can help diagnose this monster. Just because a block doesn't work or last does NOT mean you do not have RSD. For your sake, I'm praying you do not have RSD and that they can find (and cure) whatever you do have. However, I would not go by the word of one Dr. who obviously doesn't know a great deal about RSD. Hugs, Jo
Guest guest
Peggy, He called the University Hospital here and set me up with a new pulmonary physician that just came there from Duke. For evaluation, treatment and consult. His background is at Jewish and Duke. He specializes and has been published many times in prominant journals, etc. He is seeing me on Monday. I definatly do not want to change doctors, but Dr. O thinks I can see the new guy as a consult doc. Since his practice dropped my insurance, it is getting dicey. I told Dr. O that I would see this guy and jump through the hoops, but I did not want him to stop being my doc and that I wanted him there when final decisions had to be made. I want to be a real person to the doc making those decisons. Well, I gave in and ordered my hospital bed. They will bring it in a couple of weeks. They told me that they would put an air mattress overlay with a pump on it, so that it is comfortable. The doc has been bugging me for months to get it. Aaaargh! I don't like what it respresents. But, I would like to sleep occasionally. I slept 4 hours last night, been up since 4:30. Nothing much to do at this hour except watch infomercials....HATE THEM! Take care, my blonde friend. One more hug, please. Guest guest
Joyce... Can you get your current pulmonologist to grandfather on insurance? That's basically he agrees to accept your insurers pay rates for you only and they agree to treat him as in network for you. It can generally be done in case of severe conditions and I think we do qualify for that. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Well it was what i figured the appt was to be. Guest guest
I want the best of all worlds and covered by insurance. Fully adjustible but the most luxurious mattress in the world and king size. Now, I can't afford that of course. Actually, it sort of hit me when I returned home from my VATS and climbed into my incredible king size bed with pillow top mattress, that the hospital bed I left was probably more comfortable. There are days I've been tempted to ditch mine and go for one and the only reason I don't is stupid pride and wanting a nice looking bed even though no one sees it often and those who do could care less. I know the image of what it means hurts, but the reality is you probably will sleep and feel better. But wearing a hose in our nose, sleeping with masks, hospital beds are all sort of a kick in the a nkle. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Well it was what i figured the appt was to be. Guest guest
Bruce, I filed for a continuity of service due to terminal illness, and appealed. Got me nowhere. He saw me last week and spent an hour with me. He said he would handle the bill. ???? Whatever that means. I will just see him out of network and what it costs, it costs. I told my husband that I was not going to be around to spend my part of our retirement savings, so spend it on the doctor that I want. I asked Dr. O'Brien if he would be there for me when I died and he said he would. He will stick with me, regardless of insurance. But, it does present a problem for admitting to hospital. But, there is a way around. Just gotta play the game. Guest guest
Sandie, No, he is not shaking me off. He is sending me for a consult and evaluation. I asked him directly and he said never. Thanks for caring. Guest guest
Joyce I'll translate his comment that he will " handle the bill. " That means he's the kind of man you want in a doctor, that he'll accept the out of network and gently write the rest off. It may show up on a statement but he'll never press for payment. No wonder you adore him so. Reading that and the fact he said he'd always be there for you made me cry because it made me think of my counselor and the same words and attitude. There really are some doctors and medical professionals who are still in the field because they love helping patients. We find out at times like these. I'm so happy for Joyce that she's got one. That brings tears of joy just thinking how special that is. And the hospital, I'm sure he has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. It's like my oncologist letting my primary order all the CT's because in his office they cost me a $20 office visit as opposed to the cost of a third party. Easy enough for me to pick up the cd and carry it downstairs. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Well it was what i figured the appt was to be.
