Guest guest
Now Bruce, This was a perfectly GOOD discussion to get going...the idea had MERIT...no I didn't think you'd be able to influence Medico training but that didn't mean we shouldn't consider the ramifications of Doctors on this Board. For instance it's quite likely some Doctors out there ARE aware of the existence of this Board...as you say they wouldn't have the time & most likely never have the inclination to read through ALL our stuff. I was just trying to raise the point that even IF a Medico were interested enough I don't think it would be advisable to allow them access, either as an active participant OR as a lurker.... I agree ENTIRELY that they would learn a great deal from our Board....if there's a way that some of our material could be used I would think that could be WONDERFUL! How on earth that could happen I've got no suggestions at this stage!!!! Your message DID sound like a serious idea Bruce & a good one at that....in fact I think I can remember you SAYING within it that it WAS a serious idea.....now how on earth can I tell if you are being 'scilly' when you yourself state you're being serious !!!!!!!!! in Oz
Guest guest
I tell you what, the idea of docs being allowed to join in is actually quite scary. How many of us do things that have been recommended by someone in our air family, because they know it works through experience, rather than blindly following doctors orders. Imagine the amount of lectures we'd get from the medical proffession! Guest guest
My personal opinion, is before dr's graduate from medical school or are ready to practise on real patients, is the following: The medical board should admit the new dr's for a month in hospital, give them a fake disease, with no privileges. Us, as patients don't receive special privileges when we're sick. While in hospital have them do all medical tests necessary of the fake disease they were given. With the dr's that already practising...treating their patients like BS, they should be locked up, treat them the same way they treat their patients with no respect/or dignity. In Life we have Learned treat people the way, you would like to be treated! After a month, have them do a survey of what they thought of the experience/or do an interview....This interview would be kind of different from getting the job. Your medical licences, would be revoked if you don't pass. (there would be no excuses well, oh, I'm sorry, d'uh I didn't know better etc.... Some might change their attitudes etc....in treating patients better and some well nothing would have changed at all....in those who decide well I'm going to continue to treat patients like BS...medical licenses should be revoked. If a dr receives a warning whether it's the first, second or third....or is brought in front of the medical board, licenses should be revoked on the spot. Send them to Bedside Manner School! They should learn they're treating people/humans and not penguins, cats or dogs etc.... How many times do we hear on tv, news, from people, documentaries done etc...because rumours/news travel so fast....this dr sexually assaulted the patient, wrong medication was prescribed, dr was under the influence when peformed the procedure, wrong leg was operated on...and what did the dr have to say Ooops, I didn't correctly read the chart....Dr's should be held accountable for their actions!
