Everyone's paradise is different. I'll choose South Florida or Hawaii

over Alaska as beautiful as it sounds. Now if you can warm it up to

70 degrees year round, then Alaska might be my paradise. But its

clear that it is paradise to Jim and thats all that matters. May

everyone find their paradise.

Jim...you're right, I can't imagine such extreme weather. For me, I can't handle the cold.

Sure glad there were people who could fix the problem.

Stay cozy.

So, Jim, I guess you don't want to hear that it's 60 degrees

here....above freezing that is :)

I suppose for most of the year it's gorgeous there, right?

I know it was difficult to watch others doing the chore you feel you

should have been doing. I know your frustration. I imagine that most

of us on this board can commiserate with you. So please know you're

not alone in this, we all feel what you're feeling.

So, being new to the board, I don't know much about you. How long have

you lived in Alaska? And what part are you from? Are you a native

Alaskan? If not, where did you live before?

I have an old, old friend who lives on Sitka and loves it. She's been

there for nearly 30 years now. Hard to believe it's been so long.

My ex-brother-in-law used to fish in Alaska for 6 months out of the

year. I'm not so sure he loved it...LOL!

I'm glad you have water though. So we just Thank God for friends and

family who are willing and able to aid us when it's needed. And fix

them hot chocolate when they're done :)

Warming hugs to you!

Babs......Oh, I don't mind...I talked to my friend in Australia on Christmas and it was in the 80s. That's why we like going there, usually in Feb or March. Cold here.......but so, so nice there. There have been times when I'd be there and not wear shoes for a month (just don't walk in the tall grass, eh ). In fact my wife got out one of our videos last night from our last trip in 2006....blue sky, sunshine, warm, blue ocean water, watermelon, etc.......and I can promise...not once in 30 days did I give thought to the "paradise" we'd left behind. Thanx for the kind words. And you are right, I know that virtually everyone here has experienced these things. I think that's one of the reasons I write about these thoughts, knowing everyone "gets it". What could I offer them?? Hot chocolate, coffee, sandwiches, money, how

about my first born?? I have to be careful because my bro-in-law is Alaska Native and it would be very easy to offend him. You're right, I am just so thankful. I am not Native, been here 23 years. Came from Wash State, near Portland, Or. "Here" is the south, west coast, Bristol Bay, the largest sockeye salmon fishery on the planet. Sitka is probably almost a thousand miles from here. So, how's your sense of humor?? You mention that it's 60 degrees...my response, being the sicko, boasting, Bush Alaskan that I am, would be......yeah, but it's............it's....................Texas. OHHHHHHHHHH, I know that's going to get me in deep doo-doo with all the Texans on the board. Oh well, it'll get my mind off the cold. Thanx again, Babs. jim IPF 05 alaska Barbara wrote: So, Jim, I guess you don't want to hear that it's 60 degreeshere....above freezing that is :)I suppose for most of the year it's gorgeous there, right?
