I've found that exercising always triggers my upper GI symptoms, so I have had to learn to pace myself, stop doing any exercise that focuses on my abdomen or that tires me out. I walk regularly now instead of jog or do Pilates. I still do a bit of yoga, but can't do most of the poses. With my neurological issues that have developed the past two years, I feel grateful when I can even handle a walk around the block without suffering!

I've talked with others who have experienced the same thing. But I've also seen emails from people who are able to resume strenuous exercise after they've healed. As always, it depends on your particular digestive disorder and your own body and at what stage your healing has progressed to.

I'd pay attention to your body's signals, and stick to mild exercise for a while. Try a run in a few months and see if it's any better.
